Two March Events for the Curious

Start 2016 in curious fashion by joining us for two nights of thought-provoking entertainment - the launch of Colony at Carriageworks, and a special live-score screening of Riz that has some added interest for teachers. See details below.

Colony is Coming on 8 March

Make Sure Their Stories Are Heard

Colony is almost here.

Our signature art project for the next few years launches at Carriageworks at 6.30pm on Tuesday 8 March with a spectacular and thought-provoking audiovisual concert. It's a free event but space is limited so reserve your tickets online now.

Colony is not a single work, but a grand narrative that spans pre-colonial times to the 22nd century. It will weave together characters and plots from an ongoing body of work that explores the impact of global mass migration and opportunities to synthesise traditional wisdom with contemporary culture.

The Carriageworks concert is the first event in a mix of film, music, live performance and a creative online universe that builds a Colony with Western Sydney at its heart and global implications.

If you can't be at this event, you can still engage with the genesis of the online Colony universe. The first story in the narrative will be posted here to coincide with the Carriageworks concert.

Riz Goes Riverside on 20 March

After bringing the western suburbs to the 2015 Sydney Film Festival, Riz comes to Parramatta next month with a special ‘live score’ screening at Riverside Theatres.

This one-night-only event at 7.30pm on Sunday 20 March will feature Kurinji playing the soundtrack live during the screening, and a Q&A with the film’s co-directors.

There's added interest for secondary teachers of Society & Culture, English and Drama, or university academics involved in related fields, following the launch of the CuriousWorks' Riz Education Package – a tailored incursion combining the film, with student workshops and activities that can be geared to explore a variety of themes relevant to the NSW curriculum or university courses.

You can learn more about the education package here, or take the opportunity to ask questions about it during the Q&A. Contact us if you are interested in the package but can’t make it to Riverside. We’re happy to discuss details and arrange a preview for you.
