Riverside Unveils Our Urban Stories

Set in the suburbs and homes of Western Sydney, Urban Stories is a suite of film and theatre scripts in development, written by young local artists emerging from our Curious Creators Writers Group.

It is the latest live event from our Colony project - a universe of stories from past, present and future Western Sydney.

You are invited to be part of the first audience for these works in progress.  Join us for a FREE evening of film screenings and theatre scene readings (performed by actors from the Powerhouse Youth Theatre Ensemble and other local talent) at Riverside Theatres in Parramatta on Friday 23 September.

No charge for the tickets, but you must book. Click here to reserve seats, and learn more about the characters you will meet at this raw art experience.

When the Tide Comes In - New Chapter Posted

Head to the Colony website! We've just posted the latest chapter in our When the Tide Comes In web series set in 22nd century Western Sydney. Today's chapter takes us into the classrooms of Sydney in the year 2021. Valerie argues with her teacher over the best way to treat the refugees coming to Australia as a result of climate change - called colloquially by the ruling powers "the illegals".

Curious Creators Bring It On

Our Curious Creators have coordinated film crew volunteers and independently taken on a commission to document Fairfield Council's 2016 Bring It On Festival.

You can view the final result on YouTube.

For the past few years this commission has been a fruitful recruiting ground for future Curious Creators. Now those 'trainees', who operated under the guidance of our senior filmmakers, have become the 'trainers'. This is a huge step forward in their development. Great job guys!

Contact us if you have an event that could benefit from the documentary skills of our filmmakers and Curious Creators. Our commissions deliver great value and professional results, while creating development opportunities and providing income for young Western Sydney artists. Revenue also supports other CuriousWorks projects.

Last Chance To See Beyond Refuge: Citizens

Our Beyond Refuge: Citizens exhibition closes on 11 September.

Don't miss this popular and thought-provoking community exhibition, showcasing works by our artists from asylum seeker and refugee backgrounds.

Their photo and video works combine the developing talents of our Curious Creators with experienced artists who are recent arrivals in Australia, drawn from our community workshops run in partnership with Settlement Services International.

The exhibition in the Marsden Gallery at the Casula Powerhouse Arts Centre is part of CPAC's larger Refugees exhibition, featuring famous artists ranging from Marc Chagall to Yoko Ono.
