Urban Stories: En Route was a celebration of artists, works-in-progress, process, and a farewell to our CEO, Vanessa Hyde.
On November 17th, CuriousWorks held Urban Stories: En Route, our annual end of year showcase at the Leo Kelly Blacktown Arts Centre. The event was an opportunity to celebrate the programs and projects from the year, recognise the importance of the process behind them, and celebrate the hard-working folks who make CuriousWorks work possible. This year’s Urban Stories event was particularly special as it was the last CuriousWorks event with Vanessa Hyde. Our CuriousWorks CEO is resigning at the end of 2022!
After ten years with CuriousWorks, Vanessa Hyde has made the decision to move onto other pastures and hand the reins over to another leadership team. Vanessa has led the organisation with integrity, passion and thoughtfulness. The majority of staff met Vanessa Hyde as young Curious Creators, and we’ve all learned a lot under her guidance, mentorship and management. We wish her all the best!
It has been an amazing journey. I have learnt so much and feel proud of all of the work we have achieved together. I look forward to watching this beautiful company as it moves into a new era and hope that the seeds that have been planted will continue to thrive and grow and a new diverse leadership of Western Sydney artists will make their mark on the creative industries in this country and beyond.
CuriousWorks is now looking to pass the baton to new leadership! We’re looking for a dedicated person to drive CuriousWorks towards exciting new horizons, who holds our same values of openness, integrity, trust and respect. We’re especially looking for people from diverse backgrounds who have strong ties with Western Sydney and understand the power of the arts to create positive change through storytelling.
