CuriousWorks Welcomes New Chair of the Management Committee

CuriousWorks extends a warm and appreciative welcome to the newly appointed Chair of our Management Committee: Ameer Ali.

Ameer Ali is a senior executive, Chartered Accountant, and certified translator with over 18 years’ experience. Ameer started his career at the Australian National University followed by ten years of management consulting in the private and government sectors. He is a Strategy Manager at the ABC, leading large and cross-divisional projects across the organisation. Ameer is passionate about creating opportunities for people from all backgrounds and he brings a wealth of experience and knowledge in corporate strategy and planning.

Ameer Ali, new Chair of CuriousWorks remarks, “I am delighted and honoured to have been selected as Chair of the Management Committee of CuriousWorks.

CuriousWorks plays an important role in the not-for-profit sector, democratising access to arts opportunities and paving the way for many artists from Western Sydney to develop and create exceptional works. We are especially proud of our record in supporting up-and-coming artists, including those who have arrived in Australia as refugees.

This year’s events, culminating in our exhibitions at the Sydney Opera House and Fairfield City Museum and Gallery, is testament to the hard-working family of CuriousWorks employees, led by the dedicated and tenacious Kiri Zakinthinos, CEO of CuriousWorks. I look forward to working with Kiri, the team, and all the artists that we support.

I would also like to take this opportunity to thank the previous Chair, Amy Noble, who oversaw the complex undertaking of separating the Management Committees of CuriousWorks and Co-Curious this year.  Amy was responsible for ensuring that both committees were suitably appointed and did so with diligence and finesse. I wish Amy all the best.

Finally, I would like to pay tribute to the passionate and talented Management Committee of CuriousWorks: Anthony Lowe, Elizabeth Grady, Ashley Gray, and Sonia Chandra. I am lucky to have such experienced, collaborative, and high-performing individuals on the team, and I look forward to working with all of them in the new year.”

Kiriaki Zakinthinos, CEO of CuriousWorks comments, “I’m excited to welcome Ameer as Chair of CuriousWorks. Ameer is a great supporter and fan of our work, believing deeply in its importance. I know he is keen to contribute to our long-term impact in the arts in South West Sydney and beyond. As an advocate for diversity and inclusion and with expertise in big-picture, future-focused strategy and planning, he will undoubtedly help shape a robust and sustainable future for CuriousWorks alongside our dedicated Management Committee and the whole team. I’m looking forward to working together!”
