CuriousWorks' recent Fat Chats of 2024, led by Miranda Aguilar and Andrea Nealy, were topics that naturally flowed into each other – AI and Cybersecurity. It gave us the space to reflect on the impact of AI on the arts (and life in general!) as well as just how deep the internet truly goes.

Here are some quick provocations and takeaways that we raised during our Fat Chats:

• Does the real problem with AI ultimately lie with the humans? Have we devalued ourselves? Have we underestimated its capabilities?
• Have we become overly reliant on AI? Are we giving up what we deem as important over the ease of convenience?
• Cookies, cookies, cookies. Not just a delicious treat, but also a tracker in disguise.
• How deep does the dark web go? The short answer is that it's a never-ending void. Something to be intrigued by, but not one to enter!

That is just a small snapshot of the big items that we discussed during our Fat Chats, which had our brains reeling and immediately reaching to our accounts and phone to keep them extra safe. Discussing other tools like DuckDuckGo & more (Google isn't everything!). Afterwards, we unpacked our Cybersecurity and Data Retention policies – huge documents in both size and importance!
