Stories of Welcome Project: Filmmaking and Photography Workshop Program (Coffs Harbour)

Are you interested in Storytelling, Filmmaking and/or Photography?

If you are from a refugee or migrant background, and over 16 years of age, CuriousWorks invites you to our Stories of Welcome Project.

These workshops are an opportunity to develop new creative skills in video & photography. Through the workshops you will have the opportunity to connect with local Indigenous elders & artists, and learn about the history & significance of the mid-north coast to the local Indigenous (Gumbaynggirr) people. 

The program consists of:

– 3 day group workshop of artistic skills development, with a group of mentors (16th – 18th Sep)

– 1 day local Indigenous (Gumbaynggirr) cultural learning workshop (12th November )

– 4 x group workshops with 2 local Indigenous artists

– Mentoring Sessions (Flexible)

– Public showcase of your chosen project presented at a local Gallery (March 2023)

– A presentation of the artworks to Sydney, Brisbane & Melbourne

– A peer-to-peer support group

 

WHO IS THIS PROJECT FOR?
The project is for people from refugee & migrant backgrounds who live on the Mid-north coast interested in developing storytelling skills through filmmaking and photography. 
 
I’M NEW TO PHOTOGRAPHY AND FILMMAKING, CAN I STILL JOIN?
The project will support people of differing skill levels. We encourage you to put an application and we will give you a quick call to determine if you’re suitable.
